This presentation is about "boots on the ground leadership" - the "what do I do and say in the moment of leadership" - how to address conflict, how to motivate, how to lead when the situation is now and there is n time for reflection or revision.

Through her study and experience as a leader, Mary Knepper has identified and synthesized what has succeeded for her in diverse situations that required thinking, speaking and acting on the spot.

Leadership depends upon each individual situation, and no single leadership style can be considered the best.   A good leader will be able to adapt her or his leadership to the goals or objectives to be accomplished. 

Mary applies a universally useful and simple four-stop pattern for complicated times.  She will present this pattern by recounting stories most representative of its use and invite audience members to recount their techniques for leading, motivating and managing challenges in that critical moment that calls us to step up and lead.
